COVID-19 case update for Lake Tahoe area counties

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County health officers announced 70 residents have tested positive for COVID-19 since yesterday. Of those, 16 are in El Dorado Hills, 14 in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, 18 in Greater Placerville, 1 in Diamond Springs/El Dorado, 2 in Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz, 6 in North County, 3 in South County, 7 in Lake Tahoe region. Awaiting address confirmation from today's count: 3. Total now awaiting address confirmation: 105.

Of those new cases, 8 are under the age of 18, 31 are age 18-49, 19 are aged 50-64, and 12 aged 65 or older. Awaiting age confirmation from today's county: 0. Total birthdate unknown to date: 10.

There have been another 87 assumed recoveries with 814 assumed active cases.

There have been an additional 592 negative results received.

There are currently 9 COVID-19 patients hospitalized with 2 of them in the ICU at Barton and Marshall. According to the State's website, 1 of the non-ICU patients and 1 of the ICU patients are in Barton, with 8/1 at Marshall. There are no suspected cases in the ICU. Also according to the State website, Barton has 2 available ICU beds, Marshall 4, but as previously shared before, each hospital can expand their capacity depending on staff and other variables.

There have been two additional deaths, the total for El Dorado County residents dying from COVID-19 is 85:

- 65+, Female from Greater Placerville
- 65+, Male from Cameron Park, Shingle Springs, Rescue

The county moved into the purple tier November 17 and was under a Stay-at-Home order from December 10 to January 12. To move from purple down to red, or "substantial," the daily new cases need to be 4-7 per 100,000 and the county needs a 5 percent to 8 percent positive test rate. In that range, schools can open for in-person learning after being in red tier for 14 days.

We are reporting an additional death due to COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. The individual was a female Lyon County resident in her 80’s.

We are also reporting 20 new cases and 19 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. This brings the total number of cases to 10,836, with 7,394 recoveries and 192 deaths; 3,250 cases remain active.

The Regional Information Center is reporting 148 new COVID-19 cases and 3 new deaths in Washoe County since yesterday.

Their seven-day test rate is 6.6 percent positive, and average daily case rate for last 7 days is 17.3 per 100,000. Seven-day increase is 1.6 percent, 14-day increase is 5.3 percent.
