Chance for light snow all week at Lake Tahoe; Warmer and drier Super Bowl Sunday

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - An active weather pattern continues overnight and tomorrow, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno. Snow showers are expected to return overnight for some areas above 5000 feet. Accumulations will be lighter, but some valley locations could
receive a few inches. Lingering snow is expected afterward until the next system swings by on Thursday and Friday. No significant impacts are expected at the moment.

This weekend and into early next week, expect drier and warmer weather as an upper ridge settles over the West Coast. The ridge keeps the storm track north of our area. On Saturday, some gusty ridgetop winds may help warm up things a bit in the Sierra too.

Tuesday - Snow showers likely, mainly between 7 am and 4 pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 36. East wind around 5 mph. The chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of around an inch is possible.

Tuesday Night - A chance of snow showers, mainly before 10 pm, then a slight chance of snow after 4 am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 16. West wind around 5 mph. The chance of precipitation is 40%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch is possible.

Wednesday - A 40 percent chance of snow, mainly after 10 am. Partly sunny, with a high near 34. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph. New snow accumulation of less than one inch is possible.

Wednesday Night - A 40 percent chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a low of around 15. Southwest wind around 5 mph. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch is possible.

Thursday - A 30 percent chance of snow. Partly sunny, with a high near 33. West wind around 5 mph. Little or no snow accumulation is expected.

Thursday Night - A 40 percent chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 14. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch is possible.

Friday - A chance of snow. Partly sunny, with a high near 35.
