California's same-sex marriage ban has been ruled by a three-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to be unconstitutional, and could likely bring about a U.S. Supreme Court decision on the voter-approved law known as Proposition 8.
The 2-1 decision by the panel found the 2008 ballot measure that limited marriage to one man and one woman, violated the U.S. Constitution. The architects of Prop. 8 have vowed to appeal.
