SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - A series of weather systems may move through the Sierra and western Nevada starting Tuesday into the Lincoln Birthday and Valentine's Day weekend. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno says the first system, Tuesday into Wednesday, is the weakest with the possibility of a stronger storm Thursday into Friday and another for next weekend. Rain, snow, and gusty winds are possible with the later two storms.
The seasonably cold mornings the Lake Tahoe area has had over the last several days will become milder as clouds increase this week. Light mountain snow and valley rain showers are possible Tuesday into Wednesday. There are increasing chances for
winter storms late this week, which could bring more significant impacts to the Sierra and western Nevada, said NWS Reno.
Snow and rainfall amounts are uncertain at this time but snow on valley floors is possible on Friday.
