COVID-19 case update for Lake Tahoe area counties

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County health officers announced 23 residents have tested positive for COVID-19 since yesterday. Of those, 0 are in Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz, 2 in El Dorado Hills, 2 in Diamond Springs/El Dorado, 1 in North County, 0 in Greater Placerville, 0 in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, 1 in South County, 14 in Lake Tahoe region. Awaiting address confirmation from today's count: 3. Total now awaiting address confirmation: 108.
Of those new cases, 6 are under the age of 18, 5 are age 18-49, 6 are aged 50-64, and 6 aged 65 or older. Awaiting age confirmation from today's county: 1. Total birthdate unknown to date: 10.
There have been another 48 assumed recoveries with 685 assumed active cases.
There have been an additional 350 negative results received.
There are currently 8 COVID-19 patients hospitalized with 0 of them in the ICU at Marshall. As of today there are no patients hospitalized with COVID-19 at Barton. There are no suspected cases in the ICU. Also according to the State website, Barton has 6 available ICU beds, Marshall 1, but as previously shared before, each hospital can expand their capacity depending on staff and other variables.
There have been no additional deaths, the total for El Dorado County residents dying from COVID-19 is 86.
The county moved into the purple tier November 17 and was under a Stay-at-Home order from December 10 to January 12. To move from purple down to red, or "substantial," the daily new cases need to be 4-7 per 100,000 and the county needs a 5 percent to 8 percent positive test rate. In that range, schools can open for in-person learning after being in red tier for 14 days.

With respect to the tier assignment measures:
Adjusted case rate: 10.5 (must be 7 or below for two consecutive weeks to be eligible to move to less restrictive Red tier. We are reporting two additional deaths due to COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. The individuals were:
• A male Carson City resident in his 60’s
• A female Carson City resident in her 70’s
We are also reporting 14 new cases and 182 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. This brings the total number of cases to 10,942, with 8,356 recoveries and 197 deaths; 2,389 cases remain active.

The Regional Information Center is reporting 13 new COVID-19 cases and 4 new deaths in Washoe County since yesterday.
