Chance of snow Friday-Saturday around Lake Tahoe and the Sierra

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - This week has been a great glimpse of what lies ahead this spring, but winter is still here and this weekend will show that, although briefly. Friday is on the mild side around Lake Tahoe as our net weather system moves on down the California coast.

Expect light hit-or-miss snow showers and gusty Sierra winds Friday night into Saturday. There may be some travel issues, but otherwise, the storm won't be full of headaches and large amounts of snow and there is a 60 percent chance of snow in South Lake Tahoe.

Sunday and Monday will be pleasant again before a drop in temperatures begins next week.

This Afternoon - Sunny, with a high near 50. Southwest wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Tonight - Snow likely, mainly between 1 am and 4 am. Increasing clouds, with a low of around 19. Southwest wind 10 to 15 mph. The chance of precipitation is 60%. A new snow accumulation of around an inch is possible.

Saturday - A 50 percent chance of snow, mainly before 1 pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 38. Northeast wind 5 to 10 mph increasing to 10 to 15 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches is possible.

Saturday NightPartly cloudy, with a low around 16. Breezy, with an east wind 15 to 20 mph decreasing to 10 to 15 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 35 mph.

Sunday - Sunny, with a high near 47. East wind around 10 mph.

Sunday NightMostly clear, with a low around 17. East wind 5 to 10 mph.

Monday - Sunny, with a high near 50.
