COVID-19 case update for Lake Tahoe area counties

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County health officers announced 20 residents have tested positive for COVID-19 since yesterday. Of those, 1 is in Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz, 3 in El Dorado Hills, 2 in Diamond Springs/El Dorado, 0 in North County, 5 in Greater Placerville, 5 in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, 0 in South County, 2 in Lake Tahoe region. Awaiting address confirmation from today's count: 2. Total now awaiting address confirmation: 112.

Of those new cases, 2 is under the age of 18, 11 are age 18-49, 2 are aged 50-64, and 5 aged 65 or older. Awaiting age confirmation from today's county: 0. Total birthdate unknown to date: 10.

There have been another 51 assumed recoveries with 602 assumed active cases.

There have been an additional 550 negative results received.

There are currently 4 COVID-19 patients hospitalized with 0 of them in the ICU at Marshall. As of today there are no patients hospitalized with COVID-19 at Barton. There are no suspected cases in the ICU. Also according to the State website, Barton has 8 available ICU beds, Marshall 5, but as previously shared before, each hospital can expand their capacity depending on staff and other variables.

There have been two additional deaths, the total for El Dorado County residents dying from COVID-19 is 88:
- 65+ Male from Greater Placerville
- 65+ Female from El Dorado Hills

The county moved into the purple tier November 17 and was under a Stay-at-Home order from December 10 to January 12. To move from purple down to red, or "substantial," the daily new cases need to be 4-7 per 100,000 and the county needs a 5 percent to 8 percent positive test rate. In that range, schools can open for in-person learning after being in red tier for 14 days.

We are reporting an additional death due to COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. The individual was a female Lyon County resident in her 70’s.

We are also reporting 15 new cases and 45 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. This brings the total number of cases to 10,969, with 8,453 recoveries and 198 deaths; 2,318 cases remain active.
