Quick storm drops a foot of snow at local resorts; Next system due in Friday night

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - A quick moving storm passed through the Sierra overnight, leaving about a foot of new snow at ski resorts and chain controls on Lake Tahoe area roads.

With the storm system gone, the overcast skies will be making way for a sunny day with highs in the 40s and a wind up to 5 mph. There will be some areas of patchy fog in the morning. The clearing will be short-lived though as the next system moves in Friday night with snow expected by 10:00 p.m. Another 3-5" of snow is forecast for lake level before it leaves Saturday night.
