SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Soroptimist International of South Lake Tahoe (SISLT) is launching a series of workshops to educate the South Lake Community on various topics impacting the status of women including wage discrepancy, equal access to healthcare, right to family leave, right to child care, equal funding for women sports (Title IX), and Advocacy 101.
The first workshop, Advocacy 101, will be focused on how to be an advocate. It will be held at the South Lake Tahoe library on Wednesday, March 15 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
A panel of experts including South Lake Tahoe Mayor Cristi Creegan and City Manager Joe Irvin will participate for members of the public to come, create an advocacy pitch, practice, and get feedback. Increase your confidence in being a valuable spokesperson for issues that concern you. It is meant to set the groundwork on how to be an effective advocate.
Creegan will be there to provide valuable feedback on what city leaders are looking for and how to argue your point in a succinct and passionate way.
The event is free to the public. To sign up and for more information, visit https://www.sislt.org/events/advocacy-101/?.
