South Lake Tahoe forecast for the week: Brief return of winter, lake wind advisory

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Even though the calendar says February, the weather hasn't been behaving very winter-like so far, but that will change briefly in the week ahead.
A fast-moving slider-type low-pressure system will move across eastern California and western Nevada Monday evening into early Tuesday morning. This will bring an increase in winds Monday afternoon into Monday night, with colder conditions and a short period of rain and snow Monday evening through early Tuesday.
The National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno has issued a Lake Wind Advisory from noon Monday to 4:00 a.m. Tuesday. Southwest to west winds 15 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected at lake level. Winds gusts of 80 mph or more are likely over Sierra ridges. Expect impacts to outdoor recreation, ski lift operations, and localized tree damage. Waves 2 to 4 feet.
Due to the fast nature of this storm, heavy snowfall is not expected.

Monday - Partly sunny, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 51. Southwest wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
Monday Night - Snow likely, mainly between 10 pm and 4 am. Increasing clouds, with a low around 23. Southwest wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.
Tuesday - A 10 percent chance of snow before 7 am. Mostly cloudy through mid-morning, then gradual clearing, with a high near 36. Northeast wind 10 to 15 mph.
Tuesday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 15. East wind 5 to 10 mph.
Wednesday - Sunny, with a high near 48. Northeast wind around 5 mph.
Wednesday Night - Clear, with a low around 18.
Thursday - Sunny, with a high near 52.
Thursday Night - Clear, with a low around 22.
Friday - Sunny, with a high near 54.
Friday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 23.
Saturday - Sunny, with a high near 55.
