Kudos: Heavenly Mountain Resort sponsors Bread & Broth dinner

In their continuing support of Bread & Broth’s mission to ease hunger in the Lake Tahoe South Shore community, Heavenly Mountain Resort hosted Bread & Broth’s (B&B) Monday Meal on February 5. The $350 Adopt a Day of Nourishment (AAD) sponsorship fee is funded by Vail’s EpicPromise grant which designated $4,200 to host twelve Adopt A Days in 2024 and provides each of the local Vail Resorts, Heavenly Mountain Resort, and Kirkwood Mountain Resort, the opportunity to send their team members to participate in their sponsorship meals.

At the February 5th Monday Meal, Tyler DeVol, Heavenly Mountain Resort’s security manager, joined the Bread & Broth volunteers and did a great job helping to serve the 110 dinner guests who came to St. Theresa’s Grace Hall to enjoy an Italian bake casserole served with roasted zucchini and mushrooms, a spinach/apple salad, drinks, and desserts. The diners also received bags of food filled with bread, pastries, dairy products, fresh fruits and vegetables, and various food staples donated by local businesses.

In addition to Vail EpicPromise grants funding AAD, the grant also directs $5,900 to Bread & Broth’s “Green Goal” initiative which purchases milk, butter, eggs, and fresh fruit and vegetables to add nutritional value to the Monday Meal food giveaway bags. Thanks to our generous donors and grant funding, Bread & Broth is purchasing $1,200 of “Green Goal” food every week to giveaway to our very thankful dinner guests who often do not have the funds to purchase these basic healthy food items.

“What an amazing experience,” shared Tyler who helped with the dessert/drink table setup during his volunteer stint. “I will definitely be back and appreciate what you all do for our neighbors. Everyone who came for dinner was respectful and thankful. The selection of desserts was perfect; everyone loved the cheesecake.”
