COVID-19 case update for Lake Tahoe area counties

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County health officers announced 118 residents have tested positive for COVID-19 since Friday. Of those, 2 are in Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz, 21 in El Dorado Hills, 3 in Diamond Springs/El Dorado, 3 in North County, 21 in Greater Placerville, 22 in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, 3 in South County, 38 in Lake Tahoe region. Awaiting address confirmation from today's count: 5. Total now awaiting address confirmation: 117.

Of those new cases, 21 is under the age of 18, 54 are age 18-49, 27 are aged 50-64, and 14 aged 65 or older. Awaiting age confirmation from today's county: 2. Total birthdate unknown to date: 12.

There have been another 156 assumed recoveries with 547 assumed active cases.

There have been an additional 2,781 negative results received.

There are currently 3 COVID-19 patients hospitalized with 3 of them in the ICU. As of today, there are 2 ICU patients hospitalized with COVID-19 at Barton and 1 ICU patient at Marshall. Also according to the State website, Barton has 4 available ICU beds, Marshall 4.

There has been one additional death, the total for El Dorado County residents dying from COVID-19 is 91:
- 65+ female from Greater Placerville

The county moved into the purple tier November 17 and was under a Stay-at-Home order from December 10 to January 12. To move from purple down to red, or "substantial," the daily new cases need to be 4-7 per 100,000 and the county needs a 5 percent to 8 percent positive test rate. In that range, schools can open for in-person learning after being in red tier for 14 days.

South County has moved up to High Tier and Pollock Pines, Camino, Kyburz down to the Moderate Tier (case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 26-99). The Low Tier is 25 or less per 100,000 for last 14 days.

There were 26 new cases and 53 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. This brought the total number of cases to 11,005, with 8,527 recoveries and 201 deaths; 2,277 cases remained active.

Their seven-day test rate is 4.8 percent positive, and average daily case rate for last 7 days is 11.7 per 100,000. Seven-day increase is 1.3 percent, 14-day increase is 3.5 percent.
