COVID-19 case update for Lake Tahoe area counties

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County health officers announced 9 residents have tested positive for COVID-19 since yesterday. Of those, 1 are in Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz, 4 in El Dorado Hills, 0 in Diamond Springs/El Dorado, 2 in North County, -2 in Greater Placerville, 3 in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, 1 in South County, 0 in Lake Tahoe region. Awaiting address confirmation from today's count: 0. Total now awaiting address confirmation: 117.

Of those new cases, 1 is under the age of 18, 10 are age 18-49, 2 are aged 50-64, and -4 aged 65 or older. Awaiting age confirmation from today's county: 0. Total birthdate unknown to date: 12.

There have been another 19 assumed recoveries with 537 assumed active cases.

There have been an additional 280 negative results received.

There are currently 5 COVID-19 patients hospitalized with 3 of them in the ICU. As of today, there are 3 patients hospitalized with COVID-19 with 2 of them in ICU at Barton; 2 hospitalized due to COVID-19 at Marshall with 1 of them in the ICU. Also according to the State website, Barton has 6 available ICU beds, Marshall 2.

There has been no additional deaths, the total for El Dorado County residents dying from COVID-19 is 91.

The county moved into the purple tier November 17 and was under a Stay-at-Home order from December 10 to January 12. To move from purple down to red, or "substantial," the daily new cases need to be 4-7 per 100,000 and the county needs a 5 percent to 8 percent positive test rate. In that range, schools can open for in-person learning after being in red tier for 14 days.

We are reporting 2 additional deaths due to COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. The individuals were:
• A male Douglas County resident in his 70’s
• A female Carson City resident in her 60’s

We are also reporting 13 new cases and 20 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. This brings the total number of cases to 11,054, with 8,655 recoveries and 203 deaths; 2,196 cases remain active.

Washoe County

The Regional Information Center is reporting 22 new COVID-19 cases and no new deaths in Washoe County since yesterday.
