SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - To expand access to care, Barton Health has announced the addition of two certified nurse midwives to Barton Obstetrics & Gynecology (OB/GYN).
Megan Galloway, CNM, and Keri Storey, CNM have joined the practice, bringing diversified care experience and improved access to obstetric care and family planning resources to the Lake Tahoe community.
Certified nurse midwives (CNM) are known for the care they offer during pregnancy and childbirth, providing comprehensive care for low-risk, healthy pregnancies. Certified nurse midwives are often present during labor and delivery, offering experienced, compassionate support during birth and once the child arrives. These professionals work with board-certified obstetricians/gynecologists to provide depth and speed of care and achieve positive outcomes as needed.
"We are excited to be partnering with our new CNMs to offer access to midwifery care for our patients, both in the hospital and outpatient setting,” said Dr. Clare Rudolph, Medical Director of Barton OB/GYN. “By partnering with CNMs, we are able to provide a holistic approach to women's reproductive health and childbirth in a way that serves the desires and needs of our community."
CNMs can also perform pelvic and wellness exams, diagnose gynecological challenges like yeast infections or sexually transmitted diseases and treat common concerns such as urinary tract infections.
“As with all of our providers, CNMs are trusted partners when it comes to family planning choices, helping patients manage their gynecological and obstetrical health, navigate prenatal development, and work with families to prepare for the arrival of their baby. Individual expectations and care choices are important to us, whether it be a routine examination or discussing test results, your birthing experience, and pain management preferences,” said Dr. Rudolph. “We are a partner in your delivery, communicating and honoring your decisions as appropriate. In any instance where the child’s safety comes into question, we help with other options for medical intervention if necessary.”
Barton OB/GYN provides a wide range of gynecological, obstetrical and infertility services at two office locations located at 2175 South Avenue in South Lake Tahoe, Calif., and 897 Ironwood Drive in Minden, Nev. For more information, visit BartonHealth.org/OBGYN or call 530.543.5711.
