SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The ever-popular Shops at Heavenly Village Easter Egg Hunt is completely SOLD OUT even after recently releasing extra tickets.
"It is great to see a staple family event on the South Shore that brings families to the basin from everywhere," said Gary Casteel, CEO Trans Sierra Investments / Shops at Heavenly Village.
The event was started by Dreu Murin of Dreu Murin Productions in 2021 in the midst of COVID and was a huge success even with all the protocols.
"I love doing cool things for the community no matter what barrier we have to overcome. The goal is to provide great experiences so locals have things to do with their families and the ever valuable visitors come back to see us again and again," Murin stated.
15,000 Easter eggs filled with plastic candy and toys, $1000 in cash, build-a-bunny station, and an Easter Brunch are all on the docket for the event. Fire and Ice, a partner for the event, is providing the Brunch with the Easter Bunny for just $20 and bottomless mimosas for $14.99 for the adults.
"Dreu and Gary do so much for the community and when he came to us with this concept we thought it was a brilliant idea. An Easter Egg Hunt in the Village??? Is there a better spot? We are happy to support," said Kacee Colter, owner Fire & Ice restaurant.
The event is kicked off by Eufee from Club 100 with stretches for the kids and then it's off to the races as kids chase down as many eggs as they can grab in the timeframe. The $1000 in cash is operated in various different denominations and placed within the plastic eggs. The event also raises money for a charity that is important to Casteel and Murin Christmas Cheer which provided food for families in need. Murin raised over 350 turkeys in his turkey drive last November and for the first time not one family went without a turkey in the Tahoe basin.
"Dreu and Gary are go-getters... Whenever we have asked Dreu for anything he figures out a way to make it happen for us. Plus, it's always a good time at his events," said Tom Davis, former Mayor of South Lake Tahoe and Christmas Cheer board member.
If you wish to attend the event there are always a couple of cancellations so watch the website closely.
Murin also stated, "I am thankful for Gary Casteel and his family for supporting such community events in the Heavenly Village. I am proud of my team who makes this all happen. The volunteers like Dana Nott and Stephanie Hylton who come out to control the absolute chaos. And we do so much good in our community. That's the best part".
