Winter Weather Advisory in place for South Lake Tahoe Monday night-Tuesday morning

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The first of two slider weather systems to pass over the Sierra overnight dropping 2-4" of snow over the Lake Tahoe Basin, but made its presence known more in the Reno/North Valleys area where 3-7" fell.

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Lake Tahoe Basin starting at 7:00 p.m. Monday, February 21, ending Tuesday at 10:00 a.m.

In the meantime, enjoy the sun that is peaking out over Lake Tahoe.

Snow is expected with total snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches at lake level and 5 to 10 inches above 7000 feet. Locally higher totals up to 14 inches could fall along the Sierra crest.

The storm, while decent, is still meager by February Sierra snow standards, but anything is welcome given the recent dry spell.
