SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Caltrans has closed the westbound lanes of I-80 from the Nevada state line to Truckee. Vehicles are being turned around at the state line. There is no estimated time for reopening.

The interstate was closed overnight, then earlier today it reopened to vehicles only and all tractor-semitrailer combinations were not allowed.

Heavy snow is expected overnight Friday with this current band of storms passing through late Saturday/early Sunday morning before the next storm arrives later in the day Sunday. The National Weather Service in Reno forecasts 5-8 inches of snow at Lake level still to come Friday and 1-3 inches on Saturday.
