NHP investigating fatal Douglas County crash

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Calif. - The Nevada Highway Patrol (NHP) is investigating a fatal crash involving three vehicles on US395 in Gardnerville on Tuesday, February 23, 2021.
According to their initial investigation, NHP troopers say a silver 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup was heading southbound on the highway and stopped to make a left turn onto Courtland Lane. At that same time, a white 2012 Freightliner semi-tractor-trailer also traveling southbound failed to stop and struck the rear of the Dodge pickup. The Dodge was then forced into the northbound lane into the path of a northbound white 2016 Peterbilt utility service truck,
Troopers say the front of the Peterbilt truck struck the Dodge pickup.
The driver of the Dodge pickup was 53-year-old Sean Leonard of Gardnerville. He was declared deceased at the scene.
