Another building in South Lake Tahoe suffers roof failure due to snow load

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - More South Lake Tahoe buildings suffering damage from heavy snow loads on roofs.

On Wednesday, South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue responded to a business at 2226 Eloise on reports the roof collapsed. Upon arrival, they found a roof failure under the snow load. The pressure caused two bay doors to be blown out. It is now red-tagged as it is unstable.

On Thursday, a beam snapped at 2184 Ruth and the South Lake Tahoe building responded.

There have also been some concerns at homes in the county that Lake Valley Fire responded to, but so far nothing more than a gas meter leaking and some cracking.

On Wednesday, the canopy at Runnel's Automotive collapsed. The building was unoccupied and was recently sold.

Earlier in the week crews were working to remove snow from the roof at the Crescent V Center at Stateline after the roof over Sidestreet Boutique was compromised. The other businesses at the center were closed until all snow could be removed and the structure examined.
