Road closures and other issues due to flooding and snow

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - With rain in the Lake Tahoe Basin and Carson Valley, roads are being covered with standing water. Some roads are closed due to standing water and other weather-related reasons so research all roads before driving.

US50 between Meyers and Twin Bridges has reopened with no controls. A mud/rock slide near Johnson Pass Road closed the road overnight as they cleared the roadway.

Nonessential travel is not recommended in Douglas County. They have activated a call center to allow the public to report non-emergency incidents related to the current flooding. Residents can call 775-783-6038 to report any non-emergency-related flood concerns. The call center is operational from 8 a.m. through 10 p.m. daily. For flood emergencies, call 911.

The current issues on roads:

Centerville Lane in Gardnerville is now closed from Foothill Road to Highway 88 until further notice due to water on the roadway.

Windmill Rd is now closed from Mount Como Road to Calle Hermosa Road in Douglas County until further notice due to water on the roadway.

US-395 is closed in both directions from Highland Way to Leviathan Mine Rd., from Lee Vining to the junction of SR182, and from the junction of SR108 to Eastside Lane in Walker.

SR88 is closed from Pickett's Junction to 2 miles east of Kirkwood from the east, and from Peddler Hill to Kirkwood from the west.

SR89 has reopened at Luther Pass but continues to be closed at Emerald Bay, it still carries chain controls.

Due to weather, road operations in the City of South Lake Tahoe have shifted from snow removal to clearing drains. Five crews will be out Friday removing debris, ice, and snow throughout city neighborhoods.

There are not many chain controls in place due to a lot of rain but check before traveling at https://quickmap.dot.ca.gov/ for California roads, and https://www.nvroads.com/ for Nevada.
