An undercover operation targeting human trafficking and prostitution in Placerville was conducted on March 3, resulting in several arrests.
Detectives from the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office researched ads on dating websites regarding escorts, made contact with them via phone and set up dates at a local motel. During the operation six female escorts responded to the room, all from out of the area. Three were arrested and booked into jail, two were cited with a promise to appear and one was released to victim services.
Additionally, one male was arrested and booked into jail for human trafficking and pimping and pandering. Another male was arrested and booked into jail for two outstanding felony warrants.
Detectives were assisted by El Dorado County District Attorney’s Office and Victim Witness Advocates.
The man arrested for human trafficking, pimping and pandering was Isiah Campbell, a 43-year-old male resident of Sacramento. Steven Raymer, also 43 and a resident of Stockton, was booked on two felony no-bail warrants for possession of controlled substances for sale.
As of March 18, Campbell remains in the El Dorado County Jail in Placerville on $910,000 bail ($300,000 each for pimping, trafficking and pandering of a person under threat). Raymer remains in the same jail with no bail. Of the five women arrested or cited on misdemeanor charges, one remains in jail on prostitution charges.
