El Dorado County committees and Grand Jury looking for volunteers

Thinking of getting involved in local government at the county level? El Dorado County has several positions currently open to members of the public including the Grand Jury, Meyers Advisory Council, Behavioral Health Commission, and Cemetery Advisory Committee.

BEHAVIORAL HEALTH COMMISSION - Three Vacancies for three-year terms. This Commission reviews and evaluates community mental health needs, services, facilities and special problems. This Commission is advisory to the Board of Supervisors and the County Mental Health Director. The Joint Meeting of the Behavioral Health Commission is held on the 4th Wednesday of each month at 5:00 p.m. at the West Slope Mental Health Outpatient Clinic and the South Lake Tahoe Mental Health Outpatient Clinic. CEMETERY ADVISORY COMMITTEE, DISTRICT 5 APPOINTMENT - One Vacancy (only residents of Supervisorial District 5 will be considered). The Cemetery Advisory Committee makes recommendations to the Board of Supervisors regarding cemeteries located wholly or partly in the County consistent with the Board's wishes to protect and promote the public health, safety, and general welfare by preserving and enhancing the County's cemeteries; providing clear, fair, appropriate, and effective regulations for their use; ensuring appropriate treatment of Native American burial sites; compiling and recording cemetery information, records and historical data; and identifying and pursuing funding for all of these activities.
