Go Fund Me fundraiser set up for hospitalized South Lake Tahoe woman

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - A fundraiser has been set up for Stephanie McGrew, a South Lake Tahoe resident since 2002, who is facing a medical battle. After she suffered through years of suffering terrible abdominal pain and violent vomiting attacks, neighbors found Stephanie in the fetal position and in agony in her home in January. She was rushed to the hospital in Carson City. After she was stabilized, doctors ran a Gastric Emptying Study, finding Stephanie to have severe Gastroparesis. Her small intestines and stomach had stopped working on their own, leaving her severely dehydrated and malnourished. She had life-saving surgery and is now left with a feeding tube for the rest of her life.

After two weeks in the hospital, Stephanie was released but she had Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and was sent back to the hospital, fighting for her life once again.

Stephanie is home in South Lake Tahoe with home-health nurses helping her.

Her sister Ashley Nicole has set up a Go Fund Me account to help her with rising expenses after not working for the last two months. The added stress of not being able to make ends meet interferes with her focus on recovery and healing.

After Ashely set up the fundraiser, Stephanie went back into the hospital and she is now hoping the community can come together to hopefully help.
