COVID-19 case update for Lake Tahoe area counties

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County is reporting 11 more residents have tested positive for COVID-19 since yesterday: 0 from Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz, 3 in El Dorado Hills, 1 in Diamond Springs/El Dorado, 1 in North County, 1 in Greater Placerville, 1 in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, 3 in South County, 1 in Lake Tahoe region. Awaiting address confirmation from today's count: 0. Total now awaiting address confirmation: 109.

Of those new cases, 3 are under the age of 18, 6 are age 18-49, 2 are aged 50-64, and 0 aged 65 or older. Awaiting age confirmation from today'7s county: 1. Total birthdate unknown to date: 12.

There have been another 10 assumed recoveries with 304 assumed active cases.

There have been an additional 602 negative results received.

There is currently 2 COVID-19 patients hospitalized with 2 of them in the ICU. As of today, Barton has both patients hospitalized with COVID-19 in the ICU; 0 hospitalized due to COVID-19 at Marshall with 0 of them in the ICU. There are 0 suspected COVID-positive patient in the ICU at Barton. Also according to the State website, Barton has 1 available ICU beds, Marshall 3.

There have been no additional deaths, the total for El Dorado County residents dying from COVID-19 is 107.

With respect to the tier assignment measures:

The county moved to the Red Tier, effective 3/3/21. To move down to the Orange/Moderate Tier, the above numbers need to fall into the ranges below. The State could move the county to Orange March 31:

· Health equity quartile positivity rate of 2.2-5.2%

The Regional Information Center is reporting 17 additional COVID-19 cases in Washoe County, 68 recoveries.

The Washoe County Health District (WCHD) is announcing 31 additional cases of the COVID-19 variant B.1.1.7 in Washoe County since the last report on March 17. There are 45 total cases of the variant now confirmed in Washoe County, which originated in the United Kingdom (UK).

The majority of cases with this variant are due to spread occurring through youth sporting events and private gatherings, as well as domestic air travel and travel to neighboring states.
