Snow/rain to start the week off in South Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The week starts off with gusty winds, mountain snow, and rain showers in the lower elevations. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno has a Winter Weather Advisory in place until Monday night at 8:00 p.m. The main effects will be above 7,000 feet. After a week of record high temperatures, they cool this week. There may be some thunderstorms Monday. This weather system exits the region Tuesday with most shower activity ending by sunrise. The remainder of the week looks dry with temperatures closer to average.
The South Lake Tahoe forecast for the week from NWS Reno:
Monday - Snow showers likely before 11 am, then rain and snow showers. High near 44. South wind 5 to 10 mph becoming west in the afternoon. The chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of less than a half-inch possible.
Monday Night - A 40 percent chance of snow showers, mainly before 11 pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 27. West wind around 5 mph. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.
Tuesday - Mostly sunny, with a high near 53. Northwest wind around 5 mph.
Tuesday Night - Partly cloudy, with a low around 28. West wind around 5 mph becoming southwest after midnight.
Wednesday - Mostly sunny, with a high near 57. West wind 5 to 10 mph.
Wednesday Night - Mostly cloudy, with a low around 27.
Thursday - Mostly sunny, with a high near 55.
Thursday Night - Partly cloudy, with a low around 25.
Friday - Sunny, with a high near 61.
Friday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 28.
Saturday - Sunny, with a high near 62.
