Registration for Tahoe Institute for Natural Sciences summer camps now open

Registration for all Tahoe Institute for Natural Sciences (TINS) summer camps is now open. Some camps have been filling quickly. Campers will experience the ecosystems of Tahoe as they explore, hike, play games, create nature-themed art, and make new friends. TINS offers camps for children ages 6-17 located on the North Shore, in South Lake Tahoe, and Truckee.

Bug Camps

In various outdoor locations around Truckee, young campers will look under logs, among plants, and in tree bark in search of hidden insects. They will also learn what these bugs eat and their important jobs in the ecosystem.

Explorers Camp

Designed for adventurous kids, this camp will explore Tahoe's wildlife and watershed. Kids will learn about forest ecology, and experience the geology of the Sierra Nevada. Campers will hike, kayak, play games, and learn from various natural science experts.

Youth Backcountry Camp

Make new friends while backpacking and experiencing the beauty of Lake Tahoe. Learn backcountry skills and adventure in the wild. These overnight camps are in partnership with the Tahoe Rim Trail Association.
