Hard Rock Tahoe murder suspect transferred to Douglas County Jail

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Nev. - The man accused of killing South Lake Tahoe resident Omar Reye Garcia has been transferred to the Douglas County Jail.

Edgar Julian Delgado of Santa Cruz has been charged with first-degree murder and carrying a concealed weapon. He is being held without bail.

On Saturday, March 25, 2023, Garcia was shot in front of Stateline's Hard Rock Casino Center Bar by a man authorities say was Delgado. The suspect and a female friend had been at the bar where Garcia also was. For reasons unknown at this time, what had been a friendly conversation turned into a disagreement and allegedly Delgado pulled out a gun and shot Garcia in the head.

Garcia was transported to Barton Hospital in South Lake Tahoe where he later died.

Delgado, 24, and his companion, Savannah Racquel Tautaupale, 26, also of Santa Cruz, left the Hard Rock in a Toyota 4Runner. A bulletin was sent out to all area law enforcement agencies with photos of the two suspects provided by Hard Rock security. Deputies from the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office (EDSO) saw the pair in the 4Runner on US50 west of Sierra-at-Tahoe at Tamarack Pines and pulled them over. They were arrested without incident. They were transferred to the EDSO Jail in South Lake Tahoe and the vehicle was taken in as evidence.

Tautaupale had been driving and was charged with a DUI. She has since bailed out.

Delgado was held in the EDSO Jail in South Lake Tahoe until Wednesday, March 29 when he was transferred to the Douglas County Jail. He had his first court appearance today for a bail review and has another court date on Tuesday, April 4, at 1:30 p.m.
