TTD Bus runs into Beverly Lodge in South Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - A Tahoe Transportation District (TTD) bus ran into the back of the Beverly Lodge Friday night, causing significant damage to the bus and the motel.

At 6:58 p.m. on March 31, 2023, first responders were dispatched to the motel.

For reasons not known at this time, a bus coming from the direction of the Bijou Golf Course on Fairway Drive went straight into the motel and did not make a right turn onto Fairway Avenue as scheduled.

There is a stop sign at the intersection of the two Fairways behind the motel and black tire marks can be seen on the road from the area of the stop sign heading into the motel.

One person was transported to Barton with minor injuries. The report has not been completed so unknown at this time if the injury was to the driver or a passenger.

The bus was not towed from the scene until Saturday morning as a tow truck that can accommodate this large size was not available Friday night. Wood from the motel ended up going through the bus's front window glass.

Had a problem finding a tow big enough to move the bus last night, so it was towed from the scene Saturday morning.

The owner of the Beverly Lodge said nobody was staying in the room damaged by the bus. He had a construction crew out Saturday repairing the side and a structural engineer will arrive Monday to look at the broken rafter damage caused by the bus.

This case is still being investigated.
