Winter Weather Advisory in place for Lake Tahoe overnight

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - It is no longer April Fools' Day, but Mother Nature keeps wanting to tease residents at Lake Tahoe. Between Sunday and Monday this week, there is a Lake Wind Advisory, Winter Weather Advisory, and low temperatures.

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno has issued a Wind Advisory in place for the lake on Sunday, April 2 until 7 p.m., followed by a Winter Weather Advisory from 7 p.m. until 11 a.m. Monday. It's a quick in-and-out system, leaving total snow accumulations of about 2 to 6 inches at lake level before it is gone, and 4 to 10 inches above 7000 feet. Winds could gust as high as 90 mph along Sierra ridges, with the highest winds Sunday night.

On Monday, there is a 40 percent chance of snow showers. The day calls for partly sunny skies with a high near 29. Southwest wind 10 to 15 mph becoming northwest in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph. The low Monda night is around 9.
