SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - At the Tuesday, April 5 South Lake Tahoe City Council meeting, they will look at a new trash ordinance that will not allow residents to put trash out before 6:00 a.m. on collection day. The move is being looked at due to increased bear activity and their propensity to hit garbage cans for meals.
The Council will also look at passing a resolution to accept grants in the amount of $427,952 to relocate the existing restroom located at the City’s campground for purposes of clearing the existing site for the construction of the city’s new Multi-Generational Recreation and Aquatics Facility.
The City is looking to upgrade the parking garage to improve operational efficiency and address safety issues, and the Council will decide if they should hire consultants to examine the possibilities of those upgrades.
Council will vote on a contract for the supply and installation of LED lighting retrofit assemblies for US50 between Trout Creek and Ski Run Blvd. The estimated cost is almost $88,000.
Two housing items are on the agenda. A resolution that would authorize the issuance of revenue bonds by the California Municipal Finance Authority for the purpose of providing financing for Sugar Pine Village Phase 1A. The bonds would not exceed $35,000,000. The second housing item is the three-building, 14 unit townhome project between Lake Tahoe Boulevard and Osgood Avenue. They would be constructed on the vacant lot adjacent to IHOP and would be market-rate homes.
The meeting will be held both in-person in the Council Chambers at the airport and remotely. To see the whole agenda, and get instructions on how to participate, visit https://cityofslt.us/84/Watch-City-CouncilCommission-Meetings.
