Kudos: Heavenly Ski Patrol hosts community meal

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Trading in their skis, ski poles, and Heavenly Ski Patrol jackets for Bread & Broth serving aprons, five members of the Heavenly Ski Patrol joined Bread & Broth (B&B) volunteers to host the weekly Monday Meal. On Monday, March 27, Andi Bertolina, Mike Galgay, Morgan Grose, Chava Laub, and Julie Zanobini went to St. Theresa’s Grace Hall, where B&B’s Monday Meal is served, to represent their fellow Heavenly Ski Patrol members at their Adopt A Day sponsorship dinner.

Originally, Heavenly Ski Patrol Foundation donated $600 to sponsor two Adopt A Day of Nourishments in the first three months of 2023. Their first AAD meal was scheduled for February 27, but due to the massive snowstorm that day, for the first time in anyone’s memory, their sponsorship meal was canceled. Fortunately, their second AAD on March 27 proceeded without a glitch thanks to good weather.

“Heavenly Ski Patrol is so happy to be back serving the community this winter,” shared Andi. “Can’t wait to adopt more days next ski season.”

And serve the community they did. Thanks to their sponsorship funding and donation of their five team members’ time, the grateful Monday Meal dinner guests, enjoyed Sloppy Joes, French Fries, baked broccoli and cauliflower, green salad, and an array of desserts and drinks, in addition to the bags of healthy food given away at the meal.

The members of the Heavenly Ski Patrol are a dedicated group of expert skiers who come to work every day to oversee the safety of the Heavenly Mountain Resort skiers.

Their commitment to serving their ski resort guests was carried over to their local neighbors at their AAD sponsorship meal. “We love giving back to the community as a group,” commented Julie. “It is a very rewarding experience.”

Thank you to the Heavenly Ski Patrol Foundation and to the Heavenly Ski Patrol members that came to the meal and dished out a healthy dose of kindness and food to others.
