Afternoon fire at South Lake Tahoe home

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - A South Lake Tahoe home had significant damage to its chimney structure after a Tuesday afternoon fire.

At 1:00 p.m. April 6, South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue (SLTFR) responded to a chimney fire at a home on Lost Sheep Lane. They were joined by Lake Valley Fire
Protection District, CalTahoe EMS Paramedics, and the South Lake Tahoe Police

Department.

The fire started in the chimney and was quickly contained, fortunately not spreading to other homes or vegetation in the area.

SLTFR Fire Chief Clive Savacool said the fire went into the walls and the floor under the fireplace, affecting the structure.

As of 4:00 p.m., crews were still on the scene and clearing out the water.

The homeowner was able to safely get out of the house and there are no other reported injuries at this time. Until further notice, the homeowner has been displaced and will be staying with family.
