Reno-Tahoe International Airport to undergo multi-year renovation

RENO, Nev. - Over the next several years, the Reno-Tahoe International Airport will transform the way people travel. They are undertaking a multi-phase construction project that will bring more local restaurants and shops, more parking areas, public areas, along with architecture inspired by the Reno-Tahoe region, and more art to complement the thriving local art scene.

As northern Nevada continues to grow, the airport, facilities, and services must grow, too. A record number of non-stop destinations (27+) and airlines (13), coupled with historic passenger numbers at RNO demonstrate the need for the airport to bring more to the region.

On Wednesday, the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority (RTAA) revealed a multi-year construction program, called MoreRNO, that is set to begin this spring to bring our region more of the airport they love. The first impact that passengers will notice will be in the Ticketing Hall, as the airport team works to expand the space and bring more light, art, technology, and functionality to this first stop in the travel experience.

"As we move into a new era for our beloved airport, have confidence that we will work hard to maintain the convenience RNO passengers have come to know and the amenities that make our airport special,” said Daren Griffin, president/CEO of Reno-Tahoe International Airport. “We appreciate the support we receive from our region and want to thank everyone for their patience over the next several years as we work to bring the facilities and services our passengers deserve.”

Due to the many changes the airport will be experiencing over the next several years, arriving at least two hours early is most important due to parking, airline check-in, and TSA security screening.

Stay up to date on what travelers can expect during MoreRNO at www.moreRNO.com and on the airport's social media channels.

Simultaneously to the Ticketing Hall expansion, they will be making improvements to the loop road that runs in front of the RNO terminal. Other improvements in the largest-ever construction project at the airport include a new consolidated car rental facility and parking garage expansion, public safety center, new terminal entry and exit, concourse reconstruction and expansion, and a remodel of the terminal mezzanine.
