Tahoe Douglas Fire welcomes three new firefighters

STATELINE, Nev. - Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District has announced the addition of three new members to their department.

Curtis Baker, Firefighter / Paramedic
Curtis has been in the fire service for 17 years beginning, his career with the North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District Slide Mountain Hand Crew, moving to East Fork Fire Protection District in 2007 as a FF/PM and then CCF as a FF/PM/Driver Operator in 2008. Curtis was an active member of his local IAFF including executive board leadership. His paramedic experience also includes REMSA, Mt. Rose Ski Area, and a private ambulance service. Most recently, Baker has served as a Fire Response Specialist at Tesla. Curtis is assigned to C­ Shift.

Nick Mikovich, Firefighter / Paramedic
Nick is a graduate of Truckee Meadow Community College's Advanced EMT program, Lake Tahoe Community College's Fire Academy Class of 2019, and he was an intern with Lake Valley Fire in 2020. He holds a BA in Kinesiology from the University of Nevada, Reno, and graduated from the Capital City Regional Fire Academy in January 2022. Nick is assigned to A-Shift.

Austin Evans, Firefighter / Paramedic
Austin is a Douglas High School graduate who served three seasons with the Zephyr Crew while obtaining his BA in Geography from UNR. He was a Sawyer with the Sawtooth Hotshots (USFS) and was employed as an AEMT with REMSA while attending paramedic school. Austin recently received his Nevada
Paramedic certification and graduated from the Capital City Regional Fire Academy in January 2022. Austin is assigned toB-shift.
