Pair facing multiple fraud and identity theft charges after arrest at Edgewood Tahoe

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Nev. - Two people were arrested at Edgewood Tahoe Resort on Friday on multiple charges in Florida, California, and Nevada after using a stolen credit card while paying for incurred expenses for the hotel.

On Friday, April 5, deputies from the Douglas County Sheriff's Office (DCSO) were called to the resort at Lake Tahoe. A woman identified as 34-year-old Kaleigh Thinnes from Sarasota, Florida had reserved the room online using a false name, provided additional, false identification upon check-in, and then tried to pay with the stolen credit card.

Thinnes was with a male accomplice, identified as 38-year-old Gabriel Pizarro-Flores. Pizarro-Flores had two outstanding warrants out of Santa Clara County Superior Court and possessed a controlled substance and burglary tools.

In the room the pair had at Edgewood, DCSO deputies found multiple travel bags and luggage, approximately ten passports belonging to other people, and multiple laptop computers and tablets, with many of the bags containing identifying information of other people.

The vehicle Thinnes and Pizarro-Flores were using was seized. It was determined this vehicle was purchased from a car dealership in Pleasant Hill, California, using false identifying information of another person.

Thinnes is also currently under investigation in other jurisdictions in Florida and California for similar criminal activities and is alleged to have engaged in similar criminal activities throughout different jurisdictions within the United States.

Thinnes was booked into the Douglas County Jail for fugitive warrants, defrauding an innkeeper, fraudulent use of credit cards, possession of stolen property, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, and identity theft.

Pizarro-Flores was booked into the Douglas County Jail on fugitive warrants, defrauding an innkeeper, fraudulent use of a credit card, possession of a controlled substance, possession of paraphernalia, and possession of burglary tools.
