Local vacancies on Meyers Advisory Council, Veterans Affairs Commission and Fish and Wildlife Commission

EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. - Have you ever thought of volunteering to help the community at an advisory level to the El Dorado County Board of Supervisors? There are openings on three county commissions and councils that need to be filled by local residents.

Only residents or property owners in the Lake Tahoe region of the unincorporated County may apply for the Meyers Area Council. The other two commission openings can be filled by those living in the incorporated area (South Lake Tahoe city limits).

The Meyers Advisory Council (MAC) was established by the Board of Supervisors upon adoption of the Meyers Area Plan (MAP) on March 25, 2018, and the council framework was adopted on August 28, 2018, by Board Resolution 150-2018. Policy 1.2 in Chapter 7 of the MAP states that the council shall provide recommendations to the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA), the El Dorado County Planning Commission and/or the Board of Supervisors on the implementation of the MAP. The MAC shall hold regular meetings at least quarterly or more often as necessary. The MAC, in coordination with County staff, shall establish a regular time and place for meetings.

Fish and Wildlife Commission - District 5 residency is required for the one vacancy. The Fish and Wildlife Commission is advisory to the Board of Supervisors on matters affecting the conservation of fish and wildlife within the jurisdiction of the Board of Supervisors and makes recommendations to the board regarding expenditures of funds for fish and wildlife.

Veterans Affairs Commission - District 5 member appointment, one vacancy. The Veteran Affairs Commission acts in an advisory capacity to the Board of Supervisors in the following ways: a) Promoting, aiding, and encouraging public support for veterans affairs; b) Promoting, aiding, and encouraging public support to and recruitment for the National Guard and the Armed Forces of the United States of America; c) Reviewing policies and programs affecting veterans, and d) Providing appropriate and timely information and recommendations to the Board of Supervisors and the public concerning veterans affairs and the National Guard.
