Kudos: Former Tahoe resident hosts Bread & Broth dinner

“I grew up in South Lake Tahoe and received help from kind people in the community even when I felt that I should not receive it,” shared Tyler Shewbert. “Now that I am able to help others, I wanted to give back to the community by sponsoring a Bread & Broth Adopt A Day of Nourishment.”

Currently living in the Bay area, Tyler and his wife had plans to drive to Tahoe on Sunday just to participate in his April 3rd sponsorship Monday Meal dinner. However, another snowstorm rolled through the Tahoe basin on Sunday canceling their travel plans much to their disappointment.

Normally an Adopt A Day sponsor, in addition to donating $300 to host their evening meal, is requested to bring a sponsor crew of 3-5 folks to help with the dinner’s setup, serving, and cleanup. To serve on Tyler’s crew, members of the Lake Tahoe Christian Fellowship Church, Kris and Berry Francis, Kate and Tom Mattis, and Donna Russell were invited to join Tyler as his crew.

Volunteering on Tyler’s behalf, the five church members cheerfully welcomed and served the Monday Meal dinner guests and did a great job helping the B&B volunteers with all the tasks needed to put together food ‘giveaway bags’, manning the serving line, drying dishes, and cleaning up.

“What an experience serving today was!” proclaimed Kris. “The appreciation that was expressed by those members of our community who were on the receiving end of the meal was overwhelming. We were blessed to help! Bread & Broth is filling a very necessary need in our community.”

Bread & Broth would like to thank both the Tyler Shewbert family and the Christian Fellowship church members for their generous giving of their time and resources.
