Raley's will not reopen its Stateline location in South Lake Tahoe due to damaged roof

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The South Lake Tahoe Raley's at Stateline will not be reopening, officials said Monday.

The store had announced previously their lease would expire on June 30 as management was unable to "come to an agreement with the landlord to extend after offering several collaborative solutions."

A portion of the roof structure at the store collapsed due to the weight of the snowpack on March 11, prompting the closure of the grocery store located at 4000 Lake Tahoe Blvd.

"Our team, along with third-party experts have been working diligently to assess the conditions of our store," said Chelsea Minor with Raley's. "With a continued focus on Team Member and community safety, we have concluded that the store condition and damage will prevent us from reopening the store before the lease ends. As a result, the Raley's on Stateline will not reopen."

Minor added they are "deeply saddened to end our service to the community abruptly."

It has not been announced who will be occupying the old space once repairs are made to the building.

Raley's will continue to operate their store on Emerald Bay Rd.
