Two-vehicle collision near Bridal Veil Falls injures 12

EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. - A head-on collision near Bridal Veil Falls west of Lake Tahoe injured 12 people Sunday afternoon.

At approximately 12:15 p.m., first responders were called to a two-vehicle collision just west of the falls on US50. Four people were transported by ambulance to Marshall Medical Center and UC Davis Medical Centers, one person was transported by REACH Air Medical Services Calstar 3 to Sutter Roseville Medical Center, and seven were treated and released on scene.

The California Highway Patrol Placerville responded and is investigating the collision. The vehicles involved were a 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe with eight passengers, most from San Francisco and one from North Carolina; and a 2021 Hyundai Palisade with four passengers, all from Concord, Calif. A 46-year-old passenger in the Tahoe was the injured person that was airlifted.

The cause is not being released as it is still under investigation but CHP Officer Andrew Brown said there was possibly an illegal turn made by one vehicle in the path of another.

The roadway was cleared just after 1:30 p.m.
