Special Olympics Plunge moved to May due to snow at Lake Tahoe

LAKE TAHOE, Nev. - Special Olympics of Northern Nevada has moved the 2023 South Lake Tahoe Plunge into the lake to May 13. Due to the winter and vast amounts of snow still on the ground, Round Hill Pines could not safely host the event on April 22 as originally planned.

Jumping into Lake Tahoe at any time is cold, but with snow still lining the lake, and melting snow filling it up, it is even colder during winter and spring.

Teams and individuals can still sign up. So far, 41 teams are taking part with 221 participants. They have a goal of making $80,000 to support local Special Olympics. To sign up and for more information, visit HERE.

Costumes are encouraged.

All participants must raise a minimum of $125 and, in return, will receive a really cool Plunge T-shirt. You can earn more incentives so the more you raise, the more you can earn. Those earning $1,000 or more have access to a VIP experience at the Plunge event. This will include a hot buffet breakfast and bar access in an area located on the beach for socializing and enjoying the Plunge.
