SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Students in the Lake Tahoe Unified School District (LTUSD) will start having a longer school day starting April 26, 2021.
The students will return from Spring Break on April 19, then start attending school for full days April 26.
Grades TK-5 will continue attending class in person on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday but their day at school will be longer.
Grades 6-12 will continue on Cohort A and B schedule with a longer school day. South Tahoe Middle School and South Tahoe High School students will not move to an in-person four-day school week until Phase 4 of the LTUSD reopening plan, which is planned for May 17.
On Wednesdays, each school will continue to serve the most at-risk students for 180 minutes of student contact time. Identified students in need of additional academic support (6-14 per class) will be at school with transportation provided.
LTUSD will continue this Wednesday schedule through the end of the school year.
The contract with teachers laid out the reopening dates for the phases. Six weeks after Phase 3 started (April 5) the District is able to move to Phase 4 and middle and high schoolers will attend in-person four days per week (May 17). That will give those two schools almost a month of those four full days before the 2020-21 school year ends.
Each school will be communicating school start and end times with parents after Spring Break.
