Another round of Easter week storms heading to Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - After a fairly dry January-March, Mother Nature is trying to make up for some lost moisture with the second of three weather systems this week at Lake Tahoe coming in on Wednesday night and Thursday. The third arrives Friday night and into Saturday. Easter Sunday is looking sunny at this time with a high of 54 with what looks like another quick system coming into the Basin on Monday.

There is a Lake Wind Advisory in effect from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Thursday, April 14. Expect winds from the southwest 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 35 mph, increasing to 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph in the afternoon. Waves on Lake Tahoe will be 2 to 5 feet.

The four-day forecast from the National Weather Service in Reno:

Wednesday - Sunny, with a high near 38. Breezy, with a west wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Wednesday Night - A 50 percent chance of snow, mainly after 11 pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 26. Southwest wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. New snow accumulation of less than one inch is possible.

Thursday - Snow likely, mainly before 11 am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 42. Breezy, with a southwest wind 10 to 15 mph increasing to 15 to 20 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 35 mph. The chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch is possible.

Thursday Night - A 40 percent chance of snow, mainly before 11 pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 31. Breezy, with a southwest wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph. New snow accumulation of less than a half-inch is possible.

Friday - Partly sunny, with a high near 46. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph.

Friday Night - A slight chance of rain showers before 11 pm, then a chance of rain and snow showers. Snow level 7400 feet lowering to 6700 feet after midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 34. The chance of precipitation is 40%. New snow accumulation of less than a half-inch is possible.

Saturday - Rain and snow showers likely before 11 am, then a chance of snow
showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 43.
