SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - This year, Barton Health celebrates its 60th anniversary –– a rich history of community support, medical thought leadership, and steadfast commitment to caring for others. Reflecting on the past 60 years, each decade represents a significant milestone in the evolution of healthcare in our community, and each month through November, Barton will share decade-themed content and festivities to commemorate the journey of the health system.
“For 60 years, Barton Memorial Hospital has been a pillar of South Lake Tahoe, committed to the health and vitality of the community we know today. We are proud to be a backbone of wellness, delivering upon an age-old dream of accessible health care in our remote mountain haven,” said Dr. Clint Purvance, President and CEO of Barton Health. “We are honored to share Barton’s story –– a legacy of health care that continues to evolve with the needs of our community, and one that is committed to meet those needs for the next 60 years.”
For the next six months of celebration, Barton will highlight each decade starting with the 1950s in April, culminating with the 2020s around November 23 –– the official anniversary of Barton Memorial Hospital. Beginning this month, community members and visitors can expect to see the Barton Health 60th Anniversary commemorative logo, historical photos, and articles about each decade.
Since it opened in 1963, Barton Memorial Hospital has expanded to include 63 acute care beds, a 48-bed Skilled Nursing Facility, and certification as a Level III Trauma Center, while its vast coordinated network of outpatient medical facilities has grown to include many primary and specialty care services.
