Search and Rescue team from South Lake Tahoe rescues stranded hiker and her dog

The El Dorado County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue (SAR) team from South Lake Tahoe responded to a call of a stranded hiker and her dog, Marley. The hiker had become disorientated and lost while hiking out of the Desolation Wilderness. As they attempted to descend the mountain from the Horsetail Falls and Pyramid Creek area they became stranded in steep, rocky terrain according to the sheriff's office.

Both the hiker and Marley had minor injuries from that descent.

The SAR team members assisted in navigating the hiker out of the wilderness and providing extraction for Marley who had injured paws. This required a special K-9 harness that Search and Rescue Operations keep in its cache of equipment. Both Marley and her owner were escorted out of the wilderness safely.
