Reno man arrested after alleged sex crimes against a child in South Lake Tahoe

A Reno man has been arrested by the Washoe County Regional Crime Suppression Unit on a felony fugitive warrant out of El Dorado County for an alleged crime that took place in South Lake Tahoe several years ago.

Rex Escolano Bernat, 42-years-old, was arrested April 15, 2021. He faces a charge of Lewd and Lascivious Acts with a Child Under 14.

Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Detectives are seeking information from the public after Bernat's arrest in case there are other victims in the Reno area.

Washoe detectives are working in partnership with the South Lake Tahoe Police Department and El Dorado County District Attorney’s Office on this case. Bernat has lived his entire adult life in Washoe County and is known to use the aliases Ryan or Rayan Samones, Ryan Bernat, and Mykee Daws.

At this time there is no other information available. Bernat is currently in the Washoe County Jail on the fugitive warrant.
