Summer activity opening dates for Heavenly, Kirkwood and Northstar

As the winter ski and ride season winds down in California, Vail Resorts’ three Tahoe resorts, Heavenly, Northstar, and Kirkwood, have announced initial plans for their summer operations.

Heavenly will kick off summer sightseeing with its Gondola opening on Friday, June 17, with more activities to follow on July 1. Northstar’s 18-hole golf course will open on Friday, May 20, and its Bike Park, alongside other summer activities, will open Friday, June 10. Kirkwood’s Discwood disc golf course will be open by Wednesday, June 1, and its mountain biking and hiking trails will be open to the public as soon as the snow melts.

“With the changing of the seasons, we shift our focus to activities that let guests fully enjoy the beautiful Tahoe summer,” said Heavenly General Manager and Vice President, Tom Fortune.

“This includes a focus on a robust summer experience for our guests, as they experience the beauty of Tahoe outside of ski and ride season,” added Northstar General Manager and Vice President, Deirdra Walsh.

“While many of our guests think of us as winter destinations, we offer so much in the summer months that is great for both weekend visitors and summer vacationers,” said Kirkwood General Manager and Vice President, Matt Jones.

Summer operational dates and activities continue to be confirmed and are dependent on snowmelt and overall conditions. Please continue to follow each resort on their social channels and check websites in advance. Heavenly, Northstar, and Kirkwood officials said they look forward to welcoming guests to their mountains to experience the best of the sunshine and stunning views that make Tahoe so uniquely beautiful this summer.

Gondola/Sightseeing – open daily beginning on Friday, June 17 (plus Memorial Day Weekend)
Ridge Rider Mountain Coaster – open daily beginning on Friday, June 17
49er Gem Panning – open daily beginning on Friday, June 17
Granite Peak Climbing Wall – open daily beginning on Friday, July 1
Red Tail Zip Line – open daily beginning on Friday, July
Tamarack Lodge – open daily for snacks, beverages, and lunch beginning on Friday, June 17

Northstar
Bike Park – opening Friday, June 10, conditions permitting, open 4 days/week.
Golf Course – opening Friday May 20, conditions permitting
Family-friendly activities in the Village, including roller skating and weekend live music
Lodge at Big Springs – opening for on-mountain dining Friday, June 10
Bourbon Pub – opening for dining in the Village Friday, June 10

Kirkwood
Discwood (disc golf) – planned opening on Wednesday, June 1, conditions permitting
Biking and hiking trails open as soon as the snow melts (June)
Kirkwood Inn – open daily starting Friday May 27, from 11am-9pm
General Store – open daily from 8am-5pm
