Alpine County hosts 2nd annual Arbor Day Tree Planting event at Curtz Lake

Event Date:
April 26, 2024 - 10:00am

ALPINE COUNTY, Calif. - Alpine County has announced the 2nd annual Arbor Day Tree Planting event, presented by the Forest Health Community Working Group. The event takes place at Curtz Lake on Friday, April 26, 2024, beginning at 10 a.m.

The Arbor Day Tree Planting event aims to promote forest health and community engagement by planting trees in the scenic surroundings of Curtz Lake in partnership with BLM and Sugar Pine Foundation. Attendees will have the opportunity to contribute to the restoration and beautification of our local environment while enjoying a day outdoors with friends and neighbors.

Due to limited parking availability at Curtz Lake, attendees are encouraged to carpool from Turtle Rock Park Community Center. Carpooling not only reduces traffic congestion but also minimizes the environmental impact of transportation. The tree planting activities will commence promptly at 10 a,m, so please plan to arrive early.

Following the tree planting activities, lunch will be provided by Sierra Chef at Turtle Rock Park Community Center starting at 12 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring a reusable water bottle, sunscreen, and closed-toed shoes for their comfort and safety during the event.

Tools, water refilling stations, and food will be provided by the Forest Health Community Working Group to ensure a rewarding and enjoyable experience for all participants. In addition to tree planting, attendees will have the opportunity to provide valuable feedback on recommendations for the Turtle Rock Park Redevelopment by completing surveys distributed at the event.
