Man wanted in connection with a Bay Area homicide arrested at Lake Tahoe

A man wanted for questioning for his possible involvement in a homicide in Pleasant Hill, California was arrested at Stateline Sunday night.

On Sunday, April 23 at approximately 9:22 p.m., a license plate detector near Kingsbury Grade in Stateline, Nevada alerted law enforcement of a vehicle whose driver had a felony warrant out for his arrest as a person of interest in connection with a Bay Area homicide. The warrant had been issued by the Pleasant Hill Police Department.

Douglas County Sheriff's Office (DCSO) responded to the area to look for the black 2015 Cadillac Escalade between Stateline Avenue and Kahle Drive. South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) and the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office (EDSO) had been notified in case the vehicle went into California. SLTPD found a vehicle that matched the description, but it turned out not to belong to the suspect.

A DCSO deputy stopped on US50 in front of Harvey's in case assistance was needed across the state line. He spotted the car, a black 2015 Cadillac Escalade, heading eastbound on US50 from South Lake Tahoe. The deputy made a U-turn and followed it into Harrah's valet area and pulled it over. The deputy got back up from SLTPD and EDSO.

As law enforcement waited for warrant confirmation, the suspect, Angelo Delacruz, age 33, was placed in the back of an EDSO vehicle.

There was an active warrant for him according to the DCSO arrest report for his part in a felony homicide and brandishing a firearm. Delacruz was arrested and transported to the Douglas County jail in Minden.

Pleasant Hill Police Sgt. Gartner said Delacruz is not the main suspect but is wanted in connection with an April 3 homicide. There was a dispute between two groups of people inside Farrington's Bar that carried out into the bar's parking lot. A 37-year-old man was shot and killed in the parking lot just before 1:15 a.m. The suspect fled in a vehicle before officers arrived at the scene and is being sought.

Inside the vehicle were also three people identified by DCSO as the suspect's wife and two children, ages 13 and 16. Since the passengers and the vehicle was not suspected in the felony, after a full search of the inside, the three were released from the scene with the Escalade.

As of this afternoon, De La Cruz was still in the jail in Minden.
