Next TERC lecture: Wind It up! A postural approach to performance and durability

Event Date:
May 26, 2022 - 5:30pm

Like other animals, humans are not symmetrical beings. Our organs and respiratory diaphragm are different right to left. Because of this, we become unwound in classic human patterns. Aside from affecting muscle control, strength and performance, this patterning is often the origin of pain and dysfunction.

This topic is the next presentation by the UC Davis Tahoe Environmental Research Center (TERC) that will be held on Thursday, May 26 at 5:30 p.m. This marks the first event to be held in person since the pandemic moved all TERC talks to Zoom.

Admission is $10 in advance and $15 at the door. Refreshments and a no-host bar will be available from 5:30 - 6:00 p.m. The lecture will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the UC Davis Tahoe Science Center at 291 Country Club Drive in Incline Village (between Tahoe Boulevard/SR 28 and Lakeshore Blvd.) on the campus of Sierra Nevada University.

Participants will gain an appreciation for the fundamental torques affecting our every move and will learn some basic movement patterns to immediately apply to activities of daily living. This presentation will be detailed enough for healthcare professionals yet practical for everyone. Key concepts are drawn from the Postural Restoration Institute (PRI) and Neurokinetic Therapy (NKT).

Learn how to correct your own pain, weakness, or instability.

This is being presented by Gabe Metzger PT, DPT, who is a doctor of physical therapy and owner of Tahoe Laser and Performance Therapy.
