Fatal wrong way crash on US-395 at Airport Road in Minden

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Nev. - A 22-year-old Gardnerville woman has been identified as the person who died in a crash after being hit by a wrong-way driver on Saturday, April 23.

Troopers with the Nevada State Police (NSP) responded to the scene at 4:07 a.m. after receiving reports of a wrong-way crash on US-395 southbound at Airport Road in Minden.

The preliminary NSP investigation indicates that the driver of a silver 2020 Ford F-150 pickup was driving the wrong way (northbound in the southbound, number 1 travel lane). The front of the Ford struck the front of a silver 2017 Hyundai Accent sedan traveling southbound in the number 1 travel lane.

The driver of the Hyundai, Fallon Montanucci, 22, succumbed to her injuries
and was declared deceased at the scene. The front passenger in her car was extricated from the vehicle and transported by Care Flight to an area hospital with suspected life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Ford,
having incapacitating injuries, was extricated from the vehicle and transported to an area hospital by Care Flight.

Impairment and speed are suspected factors in this crash.

At this time there is no other information being released, including the name of the other driver.

This crash is being investigated by the Highway Patrol Division’s Northern Command West Multi-Disciplinary Investigation and Reconstruction Team (M.I.R.T.) - Case #220401626. If anyone has any information about this
